Denver, CO – This week, the ϲͼ (ϲͼ) and the American Academy of Sanitarians (AAS) announced the expansion of their student scholarship program from three scholarships to five. They also increased the amount of each scholarship, doubling the total investment in students from $9,050 annually to $16,800 this year.

The ϲͼ/AAS Scholarship Fund provides direct financial support for undergraduate and graduate students.

“These scholarships recognize potential and empower the recipients to make an environmental health impact by helping them to achieve their academic goals,” said Larry Ramdin, ϲͼ Board of Directors First Vice-President. “Providing scholarships is in keeping with ϲͼ’s mission to build, sustain, and empower an effective environmental health workforce.”

Over the next few years approximately 40% of the public health workforce intends to leave their job. Scholarships can help to build the new workforce needed to protect communities from current and emerging environmental health risks.

To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be enrolled a dedicated and recognized curriculum in environmental health sciences within an accredited college or university in the U.S., its territories, or the Freely Associated States, and intend to pursue a career in environmental health.
